Wandsworth House
Kitchen extension and remodel
This Victorian family house in Wandsworth, London, hadn't been touched in 30 years and the owners wanted to remodel the traditional layout to better suit modern living. The original ground floor layout was adjusted to provide a more efficient use of the space while creating a new cloak room, a pantry and utility room, downstairs loo, and more sociable living rooms. The kitchen was extended to create a perfect entertaining kitchen which opens out into the garden.
Garden design with an outdoor kitchen, built-in grille, and integrated storage was provided as part of the design services.
Full design services including site monitoring and construction management were provided.
Coliston Road
Loft extension
The brief was to add an extra bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a dressing room into a terraced family home. Planning permission was achieved through the permitted development rights, streamlining the approvals process and allowing work to begin on site sooner.
Careful management of the staircase design as well as monitoring of the construction on site maximised the bedroom size allowing for a super-king sized bed and the new extension to be used as a master suite.
The bathroom finishes were specified in modern and uplifting tones to increase the sense of space in an otherwise efficiently sized bathroom.
Full design services including site monitoring were provided.

Private House, Surrey
Sustainable refurbishment and extension
Studio Longland Architects secured planning permission for a substantial family home redesign on the edge of the Surrey town of Haslemere. The design centres around a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to the creative reuse of an existing 1950's house. All building elements were upgraded for thermal performance including the replacement of the roof with a distinct and all building systems updated to include solar panels, under floor heating, and an air source heat pump.
The existing external walls were insulated externally providing the opportunity to update the external aesthetics of the house. Local stone and charred timber provide robust materials with a long and low maintenance lifespan which harmonise with the surrounding natural landscape.
Planning permission was secured for the alterations and extensions with full support from the local authority and neighbouring community.
